Some of Australia’s best breweries will converge on Bokarina to start 2021 in style at the GABS SUMMER Tour.

Hailed as one of the best beer festivals in the world, GABS Festivals will host the event on January 2.

After four of its festivals this year were postponed due to COVID-19, organisers say they are delighted to bring this event to the region.

“We’re thrilled to bring our festival beyond the city, to the beautiful Sunshine Coast. Its waterside location at Lake Kawana will be spectacular,” GABS Managing Director Mike Bray said.

He said the aims of the GABS Summer Tour were to support brewers and help the industry recover, boost local jobs and to stage an outdoor craft beer and wine festival on a scale not seen before.

It’s expected to be the biggest outdoor gathering of craft breweries on the Sunshine Coast, and locals and visitors are invited to sample limited-release beers, sip wine, meet brewers and listen to live music.

Two 40-foot container bars are set to serve hundreds of beers.

State Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie MP (pictured with Chris Sheehan and Mike Bray) said the event was beneficial for the region.

“It will mean jobs, new investment and again put us on the map as a friendly, safe and fun place to be. It’s an ideal way to celebrate 2021 and say cheers to a national business putting their money on us as a destination,” Mr Bleijie said.

“We look forward to the Sunshine Coast becoming an annual stop on the GABS Summer Tour.”

Sponsors have backed the event and Eumundi Brewery is just one with big plans for the day.

“We are frothing to be involved and ready to serve a strong line-up of lager, ales and our signature ginger beer plus a few limited releases for local fans,” Eumundi’s Head Brewer Chris Sheehan said.

“We’re also excited about the community connection that GABS believes in like we do – every ticket sold will help support a good local cause so that’s another reason to get yours now.”

Tickets are on sale at gabsfestival.com and early birds can use the discount code GABS for 10% off.

The GABS Summer Tour launches at the Sunshine Coast Stadium foreshore precinct on Saturday, January 2, before moving to the Gold Coast on January 9.

Buses will run to and from the event from Brisbane and Noosa, details at the GABS website.
