The Caloundra State School has a proud tradition of student leadership and encouraging exemplary standards of behaviour by asking students to live by four core school values – Be a Learner, Be Respectful, Be Safe and Be Responsible.
As part of its commitment to fostering young leaders, Caloundra offers a student leader program, where Year 5 and 6 students who consistently demonstrate the school values are eligible to apply to be part of the program.
School principal Stephen Logan said Caloundra State Primary’s leaders were fantastic role models for their peers.
“Leadership is something that sets us apart,” he said.
“We are providing innovative opportunities for students to get involved and for them to see the impact and value of community participation.
“Our students know they have a voice and can make an impact.
“As a school we have seen the impact of providing opportunities and responsibility and watching leaders grow and develop their skills.”
Caloundra State School has a strong focus on the arts, including music, dance and drama and students are able to stand for the position of cultural captain, a role which includes being guest hosts at the Dance Extravaganza held each year.
