Eleven students from Immanuel Lutheran College have sacrificed their hair to raise almost $10,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.

Ten girls and a boy had hair cut and they were joined by a group of Year 12 boys who volunteered to have their legs waxed at $2 a strip.

Principal Colin Minke and teacher Matt Cardus also had their legs waxed at $5 a strip.

The students have exceeded their fundraising goal of $7000 to reach $9900, with Immanuel Parents and Friends Community donating $1000.

They expect to reach $10,000 soon.

“I am proud that Immanuel students are supporting the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave,” Mr Minke said.

“Every day 47 Australians are given the devastating news that they have leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma.

“This year, Year 12 student and team captain Felicity Yeates shaved her hair in honour of her grandmother who passed away due to leukaemia and pancreatic cancer in 2020.”

Many students at Immanuel Lutheran College had their hair cut for World’s Greatest Shave.

“This event is for those who have friends or loved ones fighting blood cancer or who have lost a loved one to cancer.

“All money raised will go to the Leukaemia Foundation to help care for and treat those living with blood cancer.
