It’s easy to see why the Sunshine Coast has a well-earned reputation as a premium tourism destination, with 50 events planned across the Sunshine Coast Council’s event calendar alone for 2021.
That’s almost one a week, but importantly the events are concentrated into the periods where the tourism industry needs them the most, and that’s during off-peak periods.
This month, the region will see the return of the Mooloolaba Triathlon (March 12-14) and Mooloolaba Swim Festival (March 21); before we roll out the welcome mat for the largest event of the year – The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships (April 16-24).
Known as the ‘Aussies’, members from Australia’s 314 surf clubs will come together to compete in more than 480 beach and ocean events.
However, it is not only sporting events that put our tourism region on the map but our food, music and cultural festivals are also well represented across the Sunshine Coast.
During 2021, Noosa Eat & Drink Festival is holding a series of foodie experiences throughout the year.
The Big Pineapple Music Festival and Gympie Music Muster will return and there are exciting plans for the Sunshine Coast Chamber Music Festival to be staged in June.
Visitors and locals can then immerse themselves in the extraordinary artistic and cultural expressions of First Nations artists during Horizon Festival and the region will rock out to welcome Australia’s biggest busking festival – Buskers by the Lake in October.
Looking forward to seeing you at these great events.
