The speed limit on Maleny-Kenilworth Road between Maleny and Witta and at Conondale will be reduced before the Easter weekend to improve safety.
Transport and Main Roads North Coast Regional Director Scott Whitaker said the reductions on the two sections of road from the existing 80km/h limit had been endorsed by the Sunshine Coast Speed Management Committee.
Mr Whitaker said the committee was comprised of the Queensland Police Service, Sunshine Coast Council and Transport and Main Roads.
“From Dixon Avenue at Maleny to near Sidney Lane at Witta, the limit will now be 70km/h,” he said.
“On the eastern side of Conondale, the existing 60km/h limit in the township will be extended further to the Meadow Lane intersection.”

Mr Whitaker said the speed limit reviews considered a range of factors such as road function, environment, existing construction standard, prevailing traffic speeds and crash history.
“I urge all motorists to observe the new speed limit signs and to always drive to conditions,” he said.
Work to implement the new limits will start March 29 and is expected to take three days to complete, weather and conditions permitting.
