Finally, the sun is out! After plenty of rain earlier in the week, the weekend is looking great.

There should be fine, sunny and warm conditions with only light winds.

Temperatures are predicted to hit 28C both days, making for perfect beach weather.

The UV index will be in the very high range through the middle of the day so remember to slip, slop and slap.

There will be a small, easterly swell which should produce waves in the 1-2-foot range.

All beaches should be fine for a dip, but with all the rain we’ve seen the water is quite murky due to the mix of fresh rainwater and saltwater.

There’s also the chance of some debris being flushed out of the rivers and into the sea.

With low tide between 1 and 2pm over the weekend, keep an eye out for rips, which will be to be stronger through the later part of the morning as the tide heads out.

The 2021 Senior State Surf Life Saving Championships are on this weekend at Tugun on the Gold Coast.

Best of luck to all our Sunshine Coast competitors and clubs!

The juniors showed the way earlier this month so, hopefully, there’s plenty of medals heading back up the highway after the weekend.

As always make sure you only swim between the flags!
