More than 150 people and their pooches converged for a special event at Stockland’s Aura community on Sunday.

The first Pups in the Park walk was held, with participants making the journey from Baringa Dog Park on a 1.5km round loop journey.

Almost 70% of the community’s residents are pet owners, so Aura is fast becoming the pet capital of the Sunshine Coast.

Baringa Dog Park opened in December. It’s fenced and has become a popular place for Aura’s dogs to exercise and socialise. It includes separate areas for big and little dogs, with agility equipment and grassed areas.

The Pups in the Park walk included a host of other activities, including the opportunity to have photos taken in front of a customised pooch themed photo wall. There were also free dog leads, dog washes, ‘puppuccinos’ and doughnuts handed out,

The community is also home to the Aura Vet Hospital, a first-of-its-kind clinic featuring separate cat and dog waiting areas, consulting rooms and hospital wards, with soundproofing throughout to help reduce stress in all animal patients.
