Buderim Craft Cottage Biennial Quilt Exhibition
Patchwork and quilting have been practised as both practical and decorative crafts for centuries. Examples of quilting have been found in tombs of Pharaohs dating back to 3400BC. It’s said quilts even played a role in America’s so-called Underground Railroad, a network of safe houses used by escaped slaves to make their way to freedom. Buderim patchworker Wendy Tame became fascinated by the story and has made a quilt featuring all the blocks that contain secret codes. This quilt will be on display at the event, along with another of Wendy’s quilts with historic roots, a scaled down replica of the Rajah Quilt.
When: Friday, June 25, 9am-3pm
Where: Buderim Craft Cottage, Main Street, Buderim
