Knitfest – Yarn and Fibre Festival
Knitfest 2021 is an exciting Yarn and Fibre Arts Festival, celebrating fibre arts and crafts, embracing the whole community of Maleny. Organisers yarn bomb the main street of Maleny, so the town becomes a centre of art, creativity, 18 workshops, music, trade stalls and craft markets. Learn a new skill or craft using yarns and fibre, including knitting, crochet, basket weaving, spinning and weaving, felting and lots more. Attracting over 10,000 visitors, it’s a fun weekend for all the family including a Stargazing night, Alpaca Expo and judging, Jazz on Sundays, Maleny Arts and Crafts Group demonstrations, displays and sales.

Seed Drawing Sessions
Come along and join in one of two special, two-hour ‘seed-drawing’ sessions with artist Sophie Munns at Maroochy Bushland Regional Botanic Garden this July during the artist’s three-week SeedArtLab Residency. The drawings you do will be experimental, engaging and a lot of fun. Come see what this amazing world of seeds offers with the simplest of art materials like paper, ink and twigs. Age-old materials humans have used across the planet to learn about and record the world around them. Bookings open now for everybody ages seven and up.

Receive a complimentary wine on arrival before sitting down to a delicious two-course meal. Live cover band ‘Dance The Night Away’ will hopefully have you up and dancing as they serenade the crowd. Our Raptor Friends – school holiday event
Meet an owl, an eagle and a falcon brought to you by Raptor Vision, a Wildlife Exhibitor on the Sunshine Coast specialising in the conservation and rehabilitation of birds of prey. Learn about the unique features of raptors, such as their keen eyesight, their habitats and the risks they face. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver (no registration required for caregiver). Children will have the option to hold a bird of prey after the presentation at $10 per hold, payable on the day. Please discuss this with Raptor Vision on the day.

Soup ‘n’ Soul Exhibition and Art Market
The Sunshine Coast Art Group’s annual mid-year exhibition and art market is a perfect opportunity to come and meet the artists, enjoy some delicious homemade soups and grab a bargain. Warm up with a bowl of delicious homemade soup and you get to keep the pottery bowl. A truly amazing range of handmade and decorated ceramic bowls is put out on display for you to select from, then you can have your bowl filled with your choice of scrumptious soup, have some yummy crusty bread to go with it and it’s all for just $15. In Conversation — Learning From Legends
Join legendary former rugby union great John Eales AM for another highly anticipated In Conversation — Empowering Our Community event. Highly renowned poet Rupert McCall will MC the night and share some of his best poetry work. John will communicate his messages on leadership, productive teamwork and creating a positive culture. John was inducted into the Sports Australia Hall of Fame, the World Rugby Hall of Fame, the Australia Institute of Sport’s Best of the Best, awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 and made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 1999 for his services to the community and rugby.
