The owners of a popular Forest Glen cafe have expanded their business to a bustling tourist hub near the beach.

Partners Jake Jodvalkis and Kristy Knox have operated Local Social Cafe at Mons Road, Forest Glen, for the past four years and now boast a second venture, at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

They are the second tenants within The Alley precinct, alongside renowned Kenilworth Country Bakery, which expanded there last month.

The cafe is open seven days a week.

Jake Jodvalkis and Kristy Knox are excited to branch out to Mooloolaba.

Jake said it was a totally different scene for them.

“Forest Glen has more of a local community feel with lots of residential housing, businesses and schools within easy reach,” he said.

“But we are really excited with what the Wharf has to offer as it’s such a bustling tourist precinct with great history that attracts up to 1.4 million visitors annually.

“We had heard Kenilworth Bakery was a new tenant at The Wharf and knew we could work together and create a great variety of offerings, especially for the morning crowd.

“Our focus is on fresh and healthy food as well as cold-pressed juices, smoothies and great coffee from our local roaster Solid Ground so I am sure we’ll be a destination for people wanting to chill out after some exercise or time at the beach.”

Karen Hugg, general manager of The Wharf Mooloolaba, said she was pleased to have secured the second key tenant within The Alley precinct.

“There’s no doubt that that we are creating a really interesting retail offer at The Alley and it builds on our existing tenants which includes some of the Sunshine Coast’s most famous bars, restaurants, cafes, fashion retailers and various water-based adventure activities,” she said.

“The Alley also boasts neighbouring tenants with high foot traffic such as the popular SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast attraction as well as high-profile chef Tony Kelly’s Rice Boi Restaurant.

“We currently have tenancy opportunities for more take-away food operators within this specially-designed precinct that people can share at communal seating in The Alley or throughout the courtyard, as well as the upper deck or along the boardwalk.”
