Today’s economic environment means we need to recognise that it’s vital for us
to retain employees – by managing them well and keeping the good ones!
Some people managers think of retention as just having to create a competitive salary structure, add in a couple of employee benefits or maybe throwing in some training to keep everyone happy.
In today’s workplace this is not the case. As employees:
• we want to be happy coming to work;
• we want our workplace culture to be aligned with ours;
• we need flexibility;
• we want inclusiveness and collaboration;
• we need to have context as to why we are there and how our roles contribute to the company’s objectives – its bottom line.

It’s creating a work environment in balance – balancing the needs of the organisation and the needs of the employee.

How do you recognise engaged employees and how do you know what engages them into your workplace?
Sometimes it’s as easy as asking them directly!
