A coastal developer has turned its attention to a thriving hinterland town with plans to construct an impressive apartment complex.

Peregian Beach based  Altum Property Group has secured a 4066m2 site in the heart of Beerwah, which would help provide much-needed rental accommodation.

It also is a huge vote of confidence in the emerging property hotspot, which is expected to experience considerable growth over the next 10-20 years.

Altum has lodged plans with Sunshine Coast Council to build 58 two-bedroom residential apartments on 43-45 Beerwah Parade, not far from Steve Irwin Way.

Altum Property Group director Rob McCready said he was pleased to secure another major site on the Sunshine Coast following the sellout of the Parkridge Noosa development late last year.

“We have been actively looking for suitable sites across the Sunshine Coast and following the success of our latest residential project, The Whitely on Noosa Eumundi Road, we feel Beerwah is a prime location for our next project.

How the apartment project would look.

“It’s a fantastic site with three-street frontage across Beerwah Parade, Phipps Street and Free Street. Residents will have an easy walk to access the railway and bus connection as well as Beerwah Village, Beerwah Hotel, the local school and employment areas.

“We will also continue our long-standing practice of engaging local suppliers and contractors and we are thrilled with the project’s design which have been inspired by the nearby Glasshouse Mountains by award winning local firm Blackburne Jackson,” Mr McCready said.

Fellow Director Alex Rigby said the development would be a built-to-rent project with Altum responsible for the construction, leasing and body corporate management of the project.

“Housing affordability is a real issue across the Sunshine Coast and Beerwah is no different, there’s lots of locals who are employed but they need accommodation and we feel this model is well suited to the local community.

Directors Alex Rigby and Rob McCready of Altum Property Group.

“Upon completion, residents will have the opportunity to rent a brand new, architecturally designed apartment at an affordable price.

“The upkeep of the landscaping and open space area as well as the pool will be Altum’s responsibility, so it’s in our best interests to ensure it always looks great.

“For our residents, it’s a great opportunity to live an affordable, maintenance free lifestyle in the heart of one of the region’s most desirable hinterland towns,” Mr Rigby said.

Construction of the project is expected to commence in September this year.
