Two popular Sunshine Coast bus routes have been extended into two growing communities.

Bus routes 611 and 612 now include Meridan Plains and Bli Bli.

Route 611 runs beyond Sunshine Coast University Hospital and into Kawana Forest estate in Meridan Plains.

Route 612 has been extended further into Bli Bli to complete a circuit of Yandina-Bli Bli Rd and Parklakes Drive.

Member for Caloundra Jason Hunt welcomed the key services, which are underway.

“With nine new stops being built along the extended portions of the routes, many homes will now be within walking distance of a bus stop for the first time,” he said.

Route 611 Kawana Forest route extension

  • Public transport access to Kawana Forest estate (part of Meridan Plains) for the first time, bringing services to Pacific Lutheran College and Meridan Plains Sports Complex.
  • Addresses community interest for public transport services.
  • Direct journey to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Kawana Shopping Centre, Mooloolaba and Maroochydore.
  • Connections to route 607 to Caloundra and USC Sippy Downs.
  • Large span of hours with services every 30 minutes on weekdays and 60 minutes on weekends.

Route 612 Bli Bli route extension

  • Improved public transport service coverage.
  • Will provide a big increase in the number of residents in Bli Bli living within 400m of a bus stop.
  • Addresses community interest in seeking public transport to/from/within the area.
  • Provides an urban service available for students of Good Samaritan Catholic College to use to and from school, and provides a frequent bus service for residents and students.
  • Provides connections to the Sunshine Coast bus and train network.
  • Services every 60 minutes, seven days a week.
