The Sunshine Coast community may have observed their local police deploying a Mobile Police Beat (MPB) in different locations.
The MPB also known as a ‘police station on wheels’ has been introduced throughout Queensland to adapt a proactive policing response.
The MPB is a great opportunity for your local police to display a more personal approach to policing by interacting with the community through being more visible and accessible.
It is equipped with modern technology and is used as a platform to support planned and non-planned police operations.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) encourages members of the community to attend the MPB to report crime, conduct field interviews, make a statement, seek advice or support or just to say ‘hello’.
There are two locations on the Sunshine Coast in which the MPB is regularly deployed during business hours.
These are Buderim on Mondays and Wednesdays, and in the Noosa Heads region on Thursdays and Fridays.
The MPB is a regular feature on the QPS myPolice Sunshine Coast Facebook page which confirms the address of deployment on that day.
Police cannot be everywhere all the time and encourage the community to be their eyes and ears to report any issues in their area.
These reported issues enable police to determine whether the MPB may need to be deployed in a specific area.
This will give police the ability to deliver a targeted and adaptable response to a local crime issue.
It is fundamental that the community is aware of what is happening in their area and to make them feel safer.
The Sunshine Coast has a very active events calendar in which the MPB will be deployed to show off their state-of-the-art policing facility to the local community.
The Queensland Police Service is committed to looking at better ways in serving the community and making them feel safer.
