Some women just get better with age. Actresses in the second stage of their careers are having a hot minute in the spotlight.

Diane Keaton is one of those fine women who continue to walk to the beat of their own drum. She pushes creative boundaries while keeping her fabulous style and sass.

The divine Ms Keaton is in a new comedy coming to the big screen called Mack and Rita.

Vogue magazine asked for her perspective on ageing. The 76-year-old Oscar winner replied: “Just stay the f### active. If I sit around and think about things, it will be hard times. It will be me suffering. I do not want to suffer.”

Ms Keaton has been a leading lady for five decades and is an accomplished photographer, bestselling author, mum of two, and style guru. Diane Keaton has never married and says Al Pacino was the “one that got away”.

“For me The Godfathers, all three of them, were about one thing – Al. It was as simple as that,” Keaton wrote in her memoir. But when Pacino admitted he didn’t see himself settling down, the couple split up.

The second woman I cannot get enough of is Emma Thompson. In her new movie, Good luck to you, Leo Grande, the two-time Academy Award winner plays a retired teacher, Nancy Stokes, who embarks on a post-marital sexual awakening with a sex worker who is much younger.

Nancy doesn’t understand anything about the joy of sex and is determined to solve the mystery. Emma has a way of picking brave roles to push her boundaries. It looks funny and sensual and incredibly awkward in parts. I cannot wait to see it!

And lastly, here’s cheers to Jane Fonda. Just shy of her 85th birthday, the actress and activist says she feels better than ever.

“I want young people to stop being afraid about getting older,” Fonda says. “What matters isn’t age, what matters is your health and moving.”

Do you notice these super women don’t achieve their amazing results by lying on the couch eating Old Gold Rum N Raisin? There is a lesson in that for all of us.
