Spring has sprung and it’s wonderful to see and feel the weather warming up.

The sun has also been shining on our tourism businesses that have been going from strength to strength in their recovery from the pandemic.

Our data shows accommodation occupancy for these school holidays has been extremely positive with hotels 85 per cent to 90 per cent full and no shortage of activities and events for visitors to enjoy. It’s easy to forget that only a year ago Southeast Queensland was in lock down and borders closed to New South Wales and Victoria.

As we look forward towards the end of the year, bookings for weekends are strong as well, but we still have quite a job to do to fill the mid-week vacancies in the lead up to Christmas.

As such, we have been focusing our promotions on driving bookings during the week with awesome results from recent campaigns with Virgin Australia and Jetstar that will bring in more than 7000 extra travellers to the Sunshine Coast during these periods.

We’ve also just finished a promotion called ‘Ride the 5’ to highlight our amazing mountain biking experiences across the Coast and position the destination as the place to go mountain biking in winter.

But our big promotion for 2022 is still to come, and on October 5, we will launch a brand-new campaign called “Sunshine Moments” which shows how the Sunny Coast brings out the sunshine in everyone who visits, making them walk a little lighter and laugh a little louder.

I can’t wait to share more details with you.
