An annual auction bonanza has opened the doors for more big sales on the Sunshine Coast.

More than $33 million worth of property changed hands at the Ray White Coastal Living Network Auction Event, but “the story doesn’t stop there,” according to auctioneer Dan Sowden.

Many of the homes have been sold post-auction.

Mr Sowden, Director at Ray White Maroochydore, said prospective buyers had jostled for properties in the days and weeks after the event.

“With 71 properties listed for auction, there was always going to be some sales and negotiations carry over,” he said.

“We are incredibly proud of the determination and diligence our agents have shown in the days and weeks post the event.”

Twenty-nine properties, valued at more than $33m, were sold at the auction event, which was the biggest of its kind in the region, while 10 properties, valued at more than $8m, have been sold or are under contract post-auction, bringing the total sales value to more than $41m so far.

That’s despite rising interest rates and a slump in property prices on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

“It (the post-auction sales) shows buyers have still got lots of confidence in the market,” Mr Sowden said.

“Buyers are bidding at auction and buying unconditionally.

“Rising interest rates are at the top of the media, at the moment, but people still have the confidence to buy.”

Among the post-auction sales was a “delightful” property in a prime location.

No.95 Prosperity Drive, Birtinya was listed for sale at $720,000 and was quickly sold after there were multiple offers.

Auctioneer James Goldsworthy, Director Ray White Mooloolaba, said the three-bedroom, two-bathroom, two car space property, was in a great area.

“The home is well positioned, with easy access to the to the Sunshine Coast Hospital, entertainment precinct and Bokarina Beach,” he said.

“With the average sales price for a home in Birtinya being $985,000 this property was seen as entry level into a booming suburb.”

Ray White Kawana Waters & Mooloolaba will host onsite and online auction events on December 1 and December 3.

No. 95 Prosperity Drive was sold after a flurry of post-auction interest in the property.
