We are tipped to spend $64 billion on the festive season this year in Australia. Forget Holy Night, what about “holy commercialism”.

And I must admit (with glee) that I will be giving it a damn good nudge when it comes to melting my credit card.

This is a very irresponsible attitude. But a fun one!

Christmas is my favourite time of the year and while I plan on making sure everyone has something to bring them a little sparkle in their day, I have one item that is top of my wish list (other than a beachfront shack in Noosa that comes with a butler and private chef called Gerard who whips up prawn rolls for breakfast in bed).

Gold Class movie tickets are the top of my greed tree. While many of my friends are training for marathons and eating vegan organic food, I am all about sitting in those big fat recliners and hoovering trays of sliders and nachos. I love to wash it all down with a couple of red wines and follow up with ice-cream and chocolate topping that is served in those round goldfish bowls.

You know the ones I mean!

I have only ever gone to Gold Class twice in my life. I married a Catholic, but I always joke I should be one, too, because I feel so guilty if I just sit still and bludge.

Anyway, here’s hoping this will be the summer of stuffing my face with bad food and flittering away time in the air-conditioned luxury of movie theatres. There are some blockbusters coming, too.

Mrs Harris Goes To Paris sounds a must-see because it has the word ‘Paris’ in the title.

I pick my movies the way I pick my bottles of wine sometimes: it just has to look pretty.

The long-awaited sequel to Avatar is coming to the big screen and the follow-up movie to Black Panther also looks incredible. But the big one for me: I Want To Dance With Somebody. It is a biographical music drama film based on the life of Whitney Houston. My husband has already told me he will be sick the day I go to see this new release about Whitney.

That simply means more ice-cream for Greedy Guts from those big fat goldfish bowls.
