The Sunshine Coast’s “most awarded brewery in Australia” is frothing with excitement over its latest accolades.
Highly-decorated Moffat Beach Brewing Co has again dominated one of the most prestigious beer competitions in Australia.
The Indies, conducted by the Independent Brewers Association (IBA), judged almost 1500 beers from more than 200 Australian breweries.
The beers are ‘blind tasted’, without knowledge of the particular brewery or brew, by teams of tasting experts.
The drops are assessed on style, taste, aroma and other criteria, with the highest-scoring beers securing gold medals and the very best awarded Champion trophies.

Moffat Beach Brewing Co – founded by Matt and Sharynne Wilson, and calling the Sunshine Coast home for the past 10 years – was honoured to be named Champion Queensland Brewery and Champion Medium Brewery for all of Australia.
These titles were the result of a number of awards including Champion India Pale Ale for its flagship beer Moff’s Summer Ale.
The Summer Ale has become somewhat of a cult favourite among locals for its highly refreshing taste.
The brewery also took home the trophy for a new category – Champion No and Low Alcohol Beer – for its Social Jam Pale Mid.
The Pale Mid is a full-flavoured, mid-strength ale designed to suit the Queensland tropical/subtropical climate.
Another four beers in the brewery’s range also received gold medals.
These latest trophies cap a remarkable run of success for Moffat Beach Brewing, which has an incredible 120-plus medals and trophies across a number of the nation’s most significant beer awards since 2018, prompting general manager Craig Williams to describe the business as “the most awarded brewery in Australia”.
“It’s such an incredible recognition of the work our team does every day to ensure our beer is brewed and served at the absolute highest quality,” he said.
“In every beer we make, we want to give our customers a taste of the good life we enjoy here on the Coast.”
Head brewer Matt Wilson paid tribute to the region’s thriving craft beer community, which celebrated the awards together at Brouhaha Brewery’s new venue in Baringa.
“With more than 20 leading breweries now operating between Caloundra and Noosa, the Sunshine Coast truly is the craft beer capital of the country,” he said.
In another major award for a local craft brewery, Maleny and Caloundra South’s Brouhaha Brewery’s Strawberry and Rhubarb Sour (Draught) was named Champion Fruit and Funk.
