A popular waterfront holiday park will go under new management after the family operating the site for more than a decade decided not to renew its lease.

Dineen Tourism has run Noosa River Holiday Park for 12 years and will move on this month, with a new operator with a strong foothold in the region set to take over.

Noosa Council awarded experienced management company 1EIGHT a five-year contract for the holiday park, with further options to extend.

Mayor Clare Stewart said the company was an experienced provider of accommodation management services, adopting an innovative and modern approach.

The Chermside-based company also manages two other holiday parks in the Noosa region.

“1EIGHT manages seven other holiday parks in Queensland, including Noosa Council’s other campgrounds at Noosa North Shore and Boreen Point,” Mayor Stewart said.

“They have a sound track record, and we know firsthand the good job they do.”

1EIGHT was one of two companies to tender for the contract, with the current operator opting not to apply for a further term.

“We will start a contractor handover period early this month and look forward to working with 1EIGHT as they take the reins.

“We thank our outgoing operators for the great work they’ve done overseeing the management of the popular holiday park over the past five years.”

In a statement to social media, Dineen Tourism’s Karen Dineen said after “12 amazing years” it was time for the family-operated management team to move on.

“We wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to our guests who are truly inspirational and have become like family,” the post read.

“Visiting from all states, over 75 countries and almost a million in numbers since 2010 – it’s not only a lot of tourism but a lot of stories.

“Noosa should be forever grateful for your patronage, as are we.”

Noosa River Holiday Park offers 102 powered sites and 22 unpowered sites, with the riverfront facility accommodating more than 15,000 domestic and internal visitors each year.

The site is a State Government Reserve for Camping and Recreation under control of Council as Trustee.

“The new contract will pave the way for a range of innovations to enhance the guest experience at the holiday park,” the Mayor said.

The announcement comes just weeks after the Council announced a new operator for the Noosa North Shore Ferry.
