Friday, February 17, 7.10am: Paramedics attended a fall, reported near a location on Ocean Street at Maroochydore at 10.53pm last night.
A man in his 20s was reported to have fallen through the roof of a structure, sustaining a serious head injury.
The patient was transported in a critical condition to Sunshine Coast Airport, where he was then airlifted by rescue helicopter to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
Friday, February 17, 7.10am: A person was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition after a vehicle collided with a pole on the Sunshine Motorway southbound at Sippy Downs at 9.30pm last night.
Thursday, February 16, 3.40pm: Noosa Council is set to revamp the way it deals with waste in response to major advancements in the industry and emerging new technology.
“A lot has changed since 2015 when we adopted our current waste arrangements, including more ambitious recycling targets set by the state, and the availability of new technology to improve recycling and divert more waste from landfill,” mayor Clare Stewart said.
“So, to keep pace, what we currently do needs to change. We’ll be developing a new set of arrangements to see us through the next five years.”

Thursday, February 16, 7.15am: A man in his 40s was transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition after sustaining a suspected snake bite to the foot at a private address in Sippy Downs at 9.09pm on Wednesday.
Thursday, February 16, 6am: Water is back on early for Noosaville customers, with emergency works to a broken water main finished at 3am on Thursday – four hours ahead of schedule.
“We’ve had a dedicated team working through the night and our crews have done a fantastic job to safely repair the main and get customers back on supply sooner,” Unitywater executive manager customer delivery Rhett Duncan said.
“We know that outages are inconvenient and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we repaired the water main.”
Customers might experience some cloudy or milky water as a result of the overnight repair works and Unitywater advises the water is safe to drink. Running outside taps for five minutes will help to flush any air in the pipes and water should run clear.
Wednesday, February 15, 3.20pm: Unitywater is advising Noosaville residents to store drinking water ahead of an emergency water outage tonight.
A break on the water main along Eumundi Noosa Road needs repairing and works will be carried out from 9pm.
Unitywater executive manager customer delivery Rhett Duncan said crews aimed to have water back on by 7am Thursday morning but the outage could go longer due to the nature of the works.
“We have a dedicated team focused on the repair – we have crews working through the night to ensure minimal inconvenience to customers.
“We were going to complete the works on Tuesday evening but due to heavy rain and other complexities, we had to postpone the works.
“We’ve been working closely with aged care homes in the area, the hospital and Good Shepherd school to ensure we’re doing all we can to support them, as well as other critical customers.
“We know extended outages are inconvenient and we apologise for this. We thank impacted customers for their patience as we safely complete these urgent works.”

The awards program is open to all Sunshine Coast students in Years 9 to 12 and inspires innovation and creativity through the development of a new creative idea, business solution and/or a new use of technology.

Wednesday, February 15, 11.15am: Police are continuing the search for missing 28-year-old Mermaid Waters man Edan Huntington, who was last seen on the Sunshine Coast in mid-January.
Gold Coast police and Sunshine Coast police have inquired at local and interstate hospitals, airports, train and bus stations, banks and phone companies.
Patrols continue to be conducted on the ground as new information from Crime Stoppers or Policelink is received.
Police remain in constant communication with Edan’s family and friends, who have not seen or heard from Edan since his disappearance.

Wednesday, February 15, 4.50am: There could be a shower or two and the chance of another thunderstorm on Wednesday, after storms swept through the region on Tuesday.
Buderim received 91mm during the afternoon and night, while Sugarbag Road recorded 82mm and Upper Lamerough had 76mm. Among main centres, Maroochydore had 36mm, Noosa had 14mm and Nambour had 52mm.
More than 260 homes were without power, mainly in Maleny and Mount Mellum, but at one stage more than 3000 homes were without power.

Wednesday, February 15, 4.50am: Brisbane’s pre-season challenge match against North Queensland on the Sunshine Coast has been pushed back to 7.55pm, to avoid a clash between games on TV.
The NRL has pushed back the start of all of Saturday’s pre-season NRL challenges by nearly an hour in a bid to combat NSW’s forecast drastic heat. Temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees in western Sydney and central NSW on Saturday. -AAP.
Tuesday, February 14, 6.20pm: Storms are no longer posing an immediate threat to the main centres of the Sunshine Coast.
The latest thunderstorm warnings for South-East Queensland, at 5.49pm, was focused on the Wide Bay and Burnett and the Darling Downs, although there was some potential for further rain and storms later in the region overnight.
There were more than 200 homes on the Sunshine Coast still without power, mainly in Nambour, after more than 3000 homes were impacted earlier.

The BOM said, at 5.14pm, said that severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.
Maroochydore is among the locations that may be affected.
More than 1000 homes were still without power – almost 800 of them in Nambour – after the region was hit by a severe mid-afternoon storm.

Meridan Plains, Little Mountain and Nambour were the worst-affected suburbs, with the cause cited as emergency repairs.
The Bureau of Meteorology said Sunshine Coast Airport recorded 24mm of rain since 9am, most of that falling between between 4.30pm to 5pm. Nambour had 27.6mm since 9am, while Tewantin had 3.6mm.

A moist and unstable airmass, ahead of an inland trough and southeasterly change is combining with an upper trough, to increase the risk of severe thunderstorms, which should gradually amalgamate.
The next warning was due to be issued by 4.20pm.
Tuesday, February 14, 11am: Reece Walsh’s Brisbane homecoming could be delayed after scans confirmed a fractured eye socket for the livewire fullback.
The No.1 suffered the facial injury in Sunday’s NRL pre-season draw with Gold Coast at Sunshine Coast Stadium.
Broncos’ head of performance Dave Ballard said the orbital floor fracture would not require surgery but that he’d be in doubt for the season opener against premiers Penrith on March 3.

Tuesday, February 14, 8am: The man who died at Kings Beach late yesterday was reportedly caught in a rip.
The Queensland Ambulance Service assessed three people, after they were reportedly caught in a rip off Ormonde Terrace at 6.20pm.
The man in his 30s died at the scene. Another man in his 30s and a woman in her 20s were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in stable conditions.

A police statement said: “Police will prepare a report for the coroner following the sudden death of a man in his 30s at Kings Beach this evening.”

Monday, February 13, 7.20am: Emergency services were called to reports of a house fire at Yulunga Place at Mooloolaba at about 12.45am.
Five Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews attended the two-storey structure, along with police and paramedics.
It appears the fire was restricted to the garage and it was extinguished by about 1.23am.
The fire investigation unit was expected to be on the scene on Tuesday. Police said initial investigations indicated it was non-suspicious.
No one was injured but paramedics were on standby.
Monday, February 13, 6am: Reece Walsh has hummed like a Ferrari in attack and his talk on the tryline in defence stamped his worth as a fullback of class in Brisbane’s 24-all draw with the Gold Coast Titans at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Sunday night.
Broncos coach Kevin Walters would have been licking his lips watching Walsh save two tries in the opening quarter of the NRL Pre-Season Challenge clash in front of 4605 fans.
Walsh ran for 105m with two line breaks, six tackle breaks and a try before coming off with a minor head knock in the 55th minute.
His wizardry was on show in the fifth minute when his dazzling feet and speed bamboozled the Titans defence and he carried three defenders over the line with him.
Titans captain and halfback Tanah Boyd was also outstanding.
Boyd showed why coach Justin Holbrook has entrusted him with the first shot at the No.7 jersey this year as he controlled play. He also landed four conversions from as many attempts and was the reason why the Titans fought back from a 24-6 deficit.
A pinpoint Boyd bomb set up a try for impressive winger Jojo Fifita to level it at six-all.
Boyd controlled play with a masterful kicking game, but the Broncos skipped away to lead by 18 at halftime with new signing Marty Taupau in blockbusting form at prop.
Tristan Sailor, son of Broncos legend Wendell, conjured up the try of the night with a stunning cross-field kick on the run for winger Jordan Pereira to haul it in and score his second try after a Walsh break had led to his first.
The Titans roared back in the second half with winger Alofiana Khan-Pereira scoring a double and Vaka Sikahele crossing for a try after the Broncos took their big guns Herbie Farnworth, Kotoni Staggs and Payne Haas off the field.
