The first sod has been turned on an $18m healthcare centre that is set to provide general practice, allied health, dental, optometry and radiology services, as well as a childcare centre, to a growing community.
Hinterland residents will soon have access to comprehensive primary health services, with Cornerstone Group marking the commencement of work on the 4000sqm Beerwah Health Hub yesterday.
Cornerstone Group director Simon Heazlewood said he was excited to break ground on the project that will deliver 50 jobs during construction and employ a further 50 staff once completed.
“We’re thrilled to be commencing construction on the Beerwah Health Hub, as we seek to address the needs of this growing and emerging region that, to date, has been underserviced in regards to quality primary healthcare,” Mr Heazlewood said.
“Beerwah is strategically located between North Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast in an area where we are seeing tremendous growth.
“Our new Health Hub is primed to bring high-quality services to the Beerwah community, Glass House Mountains, Landsborough and other surrounding hinterland towns, as well as the emerging residential communities of Beerwah East, Aura and Caloundra South.
“We believe that everyone – regardless of where they live – deserves access to quality healthcare and childcare and we’re on track to deliver, with approximately 70 per cent of the space pre-committed for lease, including our anchor tenants, MyLocalDoc and Happy Hearts Child Care.
“On the first floor, the comprehensive childcare centre will accommodate up to 105 children and will enjoy 720sqm of expertly designed outdoor playscape.
“MyLocalDoc, an established GP practice in Beerwah with an unrivalled reputation for quality primary healthcare, has secured 500sqm on the ground floor, leaving a further 1000sqm allocated to a range of aligned health care, retail and cafe services on the ground floor.”
Beerwah Health Hub marks the start of Cornerstone Group’s sixth healthcare development, with a similar facility on Bribie Island, due to start construction in the coming months.
Construction is expected to be completed on the Beerwah Health Hub by the end of this year.

MyLocalDoc managing director Ben Child said the team was excited at the prospect of opening its doors at the new state-of-the-art development.
“Our new practice will enable us to provide a larger offering of general practice services, including two procedure rooms, increased space of treatment rooms and nursing services,” he said.
“This will also allow us to welcome more doctors to work in this facility, including other integrated services such as allied health and skin specialists.
“We hugely value being part of this regional community and are excited to work at a greater capacity to promote the best-possible health and wellbeing outcomes for our patients.”
Federal Member for Fisher Andrew Wallace said he was happy to see a family-owned, South-East Queensland business making such a strong investment in Beerwah.
“In addition to providing 100 jobs during and after construction and improved access to medical services, I’m also delighted to learn that Happy Hearts Child Care will offer more than 100 new places for children from this region,” he said.
“We are all aware of the critical skills shortages we are experiencing in the region and access to reliable, quality childcare will help unlock new opportunities for skilled workers and make the Coast hinterland the place to be for employment.
“I will always back small and family business in Fisher and I am excited to see this unique development come out of the ground today, developed by locals, for locals.”
