A tucked-away mansion in the Sunshine Coast hinterland has sold for almost $4m as buyers scour the range for lifestyle retreats.

No.59 Ensbey Road, Bald Knob, changed hands for $3.9m at auction, to early retirees.

Ray White Maroochydore sales and marketing consultant Jason Mills said the property was a quiet and peaceful haven.

“It’s a big, exclusive property that you wouldn’t even know was there,” he said.

“It’s got a very unassuming entrance but when you get into it, you start to realise it’s pretty special.

“It’s a bit of a rock-star home the way it is set up, because you can go there and no one would ever know you are there.”

The 41.2ha property sits atop a ridge line and it has five bedrooms, three bathrooms and four car spaces.

“It has full country views and you can see all of the coastline,” Mr Mills said, before adding that the property was perfect for the older buyers.

The property boasts a pool with a view.

“They can have their grandkids over to swim in the pool and muck around in the yard,” he said.

“It’s set up for early retirees, because there is a wing with three bedrooms, ensuite and kitchen that can be separated for guests or visiting family members.

“But when they are there by themselves, it can be locked off and they can use the master bedroom and main living area.”

Lifestyle properties boasting views, space and privacy on or near the Blackall Range are in high demand but they are in relatively short supply, pushing up prices.

A glamorous residence at 870 Bald Knob Road is currently on the market for $4.35m.

“I think buyers are very specific in what they want there,” Mr Mills said, adding that they were patient to secure their dream home in the hills.

“I met buyers in this campaign who were interested in this property (at Ensbey Road) the last time it was sold (for $2.2m in 2018).

“Buyers are happy to wait and some have been looking for 12 months or more for the right home.

Luxury in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

“A few of them jumped at this one.

“There is a market for a really good high-end property in the area but there isn’t a good selection for buyers to regularly choose from … to suit exactly what they’re chasing.

“This one hit a lot of special points for buyers.

“A lot of them have been looking for a long time and they are sitting there waiting for the right property to pop up, which has all the boxes ticked.”

The previous owners of the property at Bald Knob are moving to Victoria to be closer to family.

There are grand views of the coastline.
