The speed limit will be reduced along a hinterland town thoroughfare, after community members expressed their concerns about safety near shops.
The speed limit will be changed from 60km/h to 50km/k along a portion of Kin Kin Road, known as Factory Street, at Pomona.
The change will be made along a 1.2km stretch between the Exhibition Street and Subway Avenue intersections.
The new signs will be installed in mid-March.
Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey urged motorists to pay heed to the signs.
“When looking at speed limits a range of factors are considered, including road function, roadside environment, prevailing traffic speeds and crash history,” he said.
“Driving to the conditions, including speeds appropriate to the environment, saves lives and I urge all motorists to observe the changes when they come into effect.
“We’ve listened to the community and the existing 60km/h speed limit will be reduced to 50km/h on this stretch near the shops.
“The recommendation to permanently lower the speed limit was endorsed by the local Speed Management Committee following the review.
“The committee included representatives from the Queensland Police Service, Noosa Shire Council and TMR.”
