A popular Ocean Street restaurant is set to undego a major refurbishment next month that will give it with a funky new look – and add a new cocktail bar.
Owner Scott Hoskins says Junk has been a mainstay on the Sunshine Coast dining scene since opening in 2014 and the $600,000 refurbishment would focus on getting the business back to its roots of fun Asian street food.
“As we approach our 10th anniversary we thought it was time for a new look but still the same authentic, fresh and fun Asian-inspired street food,” he said.
“We’ll now be in a position to offer our guests a bar where they can enjoy their favourite cocktail and we’ll also be serving Asian-inspired alcoholic slushies, which will be a lot of fun.
“We’ve engaged two local firms: Noosa-based Zest Design to come up with our new look, while Build4u will be the shopfitter. Both businesses have been responsible for a number of major redevelopments on the Coast including Bounce and Sofitel Noosa as well as Clouds in Montville.
“The new look is colourful and fun, it’s much more spacious as we’ve taken out a dividing wall. Zest has also created a striking look from street level, which will be incredibly inviting and would compare favourably to any similar restaurant in any major capital city anywhere in the world.”
Junk Maroochydore will temporarily close for the refurbishment, which is expected to start on April 17 and should be completed by mid-May.
Meanwhile, the new Junk Sippy Downs, which will be located on the corner of Courage Street and Sippy Downs Drive, is progressing well and is expected to open in late April.
The 239sqm venue will accommodate up to 130 seats is the same size as Junk Ocean Street and will include abundant onsite parking.
