It’s the cafe with the pink chairs that is shaking up the local dining scene – namely for its popular ‘stuff on toast’.

Hailing from Manhattan Beach in the United States, the new offering overlooking the Noosa River is focused on serving healthy, plant-based and gluten-free foods.

The menu features salads, baked goods, smoothies and pancakes, plus toast topped with anything from avocado and jalapeno crema to banana and maple syrup.

The husband-and-wife couple behind the cafe have a wealth of experience in the industry and a passion for bringing what they love to life in the form of food.

Mymy and Martin Greenrod opened M&Love Cafe on Gympie Terrace on March 1 after running their successful business for four years in California.

The couple met while in Bali in 2018. Ms Greenrod is a former interior designer who later trained in raw foods in Montreal, while Mr Greenrod opened Australia’s first certified organic pizza restaurant, GoodLife, with his brothers in Adelaide in the early 2000s.

While travelling together the foodies found it difficult to find places that catered for what they wanted to eat so were inspired to create their own.

“I’ve been vegan 11 years, but initially it was for health reasons,” Mrs Greenrod said.

“Once I changed my lifestyle by way of food my entire life changed and so I became really health-conscious.

“While traveling we just realised there was a lot of vegan options or gluten-free options, but it’s rare that it’s both together.

Mymy and Martin Greenrod have brought their famous ‘stuff on toast’ to Noosa.

“We wanted to create something that is both together. As it turns out, we’re not the only ones who like vegan and gluten-free, a lot of people are saying the same thing.”

After travelling they settled in California to bring their dream – and small family – to life. Once their lease was up, they decided it was time to bring M&Love to Australia.

The cafe is decked out with pink chairs to reflect the love they put into their food and the evolving menu has drawn from what was popular at Manhattan Beach – but with an Aussie twist.

It also has a range of organic wines and local beer.

“One of the most popular things in Manhattan Beach was our stuff on bagels, so here we are doing stuff on toast,” she said.

“The avocado bagel was the most popular and I think here as well – people love it. It has a jalapeno crema, which adds a nice kick to the avocado.”

The couple is slowly introducing more food to the menu, including zucchini noodles and kale caesar salad, with plans to soon serve a papaya wrap, beet burger, dahl and tempeh sandwich.

“We also do baked goods in-house every morning, so we have almond muffins and blueberry, chocolate chip ones; we do cookies and we have mini donuts,” Mrs Greenrod said.

The cafe also has a play area with a cubby house and drawing tables for children.

M&Love is located at 235 Gympie Terrace, Noosaville, and currently open 7am to 3pm, Wednesday to Sunday.

Ms Greenrod said they had plans to eventually open daily, plus run occasional thematic dinners such as curry nights.
