New figures show a Sunshine Coast locality is Queensland’s best-selling suburb for houses.

National data from property expert InfoTrack confirmed Buderim had the highest volume of house sales from January 1 to March 3.

InfoTrack head of property Australia Lee Bailie said the suburb, perched on a mountain, was a property hotspot.

“Buderim is close to the beach and yet properties are much more affordable than other Sunshine Coast suburbs,” he said.

“It’s proving to be a great location to raise a family and ABS data shows five- to 14-year-olds account for the highest population count of any age group (13.7 per cent) when compared to the overall suburb population.

“It was one of three Sunshine Coast suburbs to be named in the top 10, with Tewantin coming in at number six, and Noosaville at number 10.

“Other popular Queensland suburbs include Upper Coomera, Ormeau, Thornlands, Robina, Capalaba, Helensvale and Burleigh Waters.”

The data found there was a 62 per cent increase in real estate sales across the country when comparing January to March, as house prices fell.

“Sales jumped by 57 per cent (in Queensland) between January and March,” Mr Bailie said.

“While the Sunshine Coast remained the top choice for houses, the Gold Coast was the most popular location for unit purchases, with Surfers Paradise, Southport and Hope Island rounding out the top three for the highest volume of sales of residential units.

“Given the overall strong performance of property sales over the most recent quarter, we expect more Australians to take advantage of the current buyer’s market to purchase a home.”
