UPDATED: Sunday, May 7, 6pm: Paramedics assessed two patients following a single-vehicle crash into a guard rail on the Bruce Highway at Bridges, near Yandina, at 5pm. The car was reportedly alight. Motorists were advised to show caution as the southbound lanes were blocked.
Both patients declined treatment or transport following the incident.
Sunday, May 7, 1.10pm: Paramedics took a person to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, in a stable condition, following a two-vehicle crash with a rollover on Queen Street at Moffat Beach at 12.15am.
Saturday, May 6, 12.15pm: New low-cost airline Bonza has today launched the last of its initial new routes, welcoming the first flight into the Sunshine Coast from Tamworth.
On hand to welcome passengers from Australia’s country music capital were a contingent of 20 line dancers and a country singer who will be performing at the upcoming Gympie Muster.
Onboard today’s flight was chief commercial officer Carly Povey, who hinted there are more routes to come in the future.
“Now all 13 routes are wheels up from the Sunny Coast, our team of legends are focussing on earning the right to grow,” she said.
The Tamworth route is the 13th and final to launch as part of the low-cost carrier’s initial roll-out, with the airline now operating 39 flights a week from its Sunshine Coast Airport base.

Friday, May 5, 2.40pm: A patient in a stable condition was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital after a mountain biking incident on the Trailblazer Track at Tewantin at 11.37am.
Friday, May 5, 10.30am: Jackson King has been named the winner of the Stroke Warrior Award at the 2023 Stroke Awards in Melbourne.
The 14-year-old from Buderim, who had a stroke in utero, was recognised after raising thousands for charity.

Thursday, May 4, 8.45am: Police have released an image and CCTV vision of a distinctive vehicle and a man who may be able to assist with investigations into multiple property thefts on the Sunshine Coast in mid to late April.
Between Thursday, April 20, and Wednesday, April 26, a man driving a white early to mid-2000s Holden Rodeo single-cab tray-back utility attended several businesses within industrial estates on Progress Road in Maroochydore and Kelly Court, Wises Road and Glen Kyle Drive in Buderim, where hundreds of litres of petrol was siphoned from vehicles and attempted burglaries occurred.
The Rodeo, missing its bumper and with other front-end damage and bearing false Queensland registration plates, was driven from these locations with several drums of fuel atop a stolen trailer, which was located abandoned at a nearby business.
Between Monday, April 24, and Tuesday, April 25, the same vehicle was driven to an Industrial Place, Yandina, business where a bobcat with a distinctive ‘posi-track’ wheel mechanism was taken, along with a multi-axel trailer. Both remain outstanding.
The man has a slim build and was wearing a white t-shirt with black ‘ECKO’ motif, a black cap, shorts and shoes. He has dark facial hair, including a moustache.

Thursday, May 4, 4.30am: A patient was transported in a stable condition with an arm injury to Nambour Hospital after a fall from a bicycle on Thomas Road, Bli Bli, at 3.15pm yesterday.
Wednesday, May 3, 2.45pm: The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct a planned burn in the East Weyba section of Noosa National Park commencing tomorrow, weather permitting.
As a result, smoke may be seen in the Peregian Beach, Marcus Beach, Weyba Downs and Peregian Breeze areas.
QPWS said smoke could decrease visibility on the roads and that motorists should drive safely to the conditions. Anyone who may be affected by smoke should also take any necessary precautions.
The aim of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels to help reduce the intensity of any subsequent wildfires, and provide favourable conditions for natural forest regeneration.

Tuesday, May 2, 2.10pm: The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man to hospital after a motorcycle crash on the Bruce Highway at Palmview at 10.37am.
It’s believed the man had been riding his motorbike, which was towing a trailer, southbound on the highway when he lost control.
The motorbike and trailer reportedly jackknifed and he was thrown from the bike.
The motorist, who is aged in his 50s, suffered multiple serious traumatic injuries, including to his chest, arms and leg.
The rescue chopper was called to the scene of the crash, just after 11am.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter pilot landed the aircraft on the northbound stretch of highway, which had been closed by local Queensland Police Service officers.
The aeromedical crew worked alongside local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics to treat the patient.
He was flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.
The Queensland Police Service closed all southbound lanes of the highway due to the crash.

Friday, April 28, 8.45am: Police have released footage of a vehicle and three people who may be able to assist with ongoing investigations into the arson of a Tewantin home in March.
About 1.30am on Wednesday, March 29, emergency services were called to a fire at a Waratah Close address.
The house was destroyed by the deliberately lit fire. No one was inside the home at the time.
Police will allege the residence was linked to an earlier assault, deprivation of liberty and robbery investigation on Saturday, March 11.
Further investigations indicate an unknown group of people distributed offensive and harassing materials via mail in the Tewantin area in the lead-up to the arson of the house.
Investigators believe there may be a link between the three incidents.

Large and powerful surf conditions were expected to be hazardous for coastal activities such as rock fishing, swimming, boating and surfing. The warning could be extended into Sunday. A 2 to 2.5m E swell was expected during the weekend.

Thursday, April 27, 2.50pm: The Dolphins have launched their inaugural game to be played on the Sunshine Coast, in June.
The Dolphins will face the Parramatta Eels at Sunshine Coast Stadium on Saturday, June 24, with tickets available through Ticketek from today.
The game is part of the Dolphins’ strategy to bring NRL matches to the Sunshine Coast and continue to serve the northern corridor between Brisbane and the coastal city.
The squad will also train at a Sunshine Coast venue, with a fan interaction to take place afterwards.

Wednesday, April 26, 5.30am: An RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew has flown a man to hospital after he was injured in a ride-on mower incident while he was working on his farm in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
The man was mowing on a slope when the machinery reportedly rolled over and the blades hit his hand, causing severe injuries.
He called out to his wife and son, who were able to administer first aid and transport him to a nearby town, where he was treated by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.
The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was called into action just before 5pm yesterday and the pilot landed at a sports field in the town.
The patient, who is aged in his 50s, was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Monday, April 24, 3.40pm: Paramedics assessed a person after a crash on the Sunshine Motorway at Maroochydore but the patient declined treatment or transport. The person was involved in a single-vehicle rollover, on the eastern ramp of the Sunshine Motorway at 1.16pm. There was debris on the road and motorists were advised to show caution in the area.
Monday, April 24, 11.50am: Police have released CCTV vision of a man who may be able to assist with investigations following the theft of a caravan in Coolum earlier this month.
Initial investigations indicate between 3.50am and 4.15am on Friday, April 7, a man gained access to a secure yard on Link Crescent by cutting a chain and lock.
He then cut power to the CCTV cameras on site before attaching a white 2014 Jayco Starcraft caravan to a white dual-cab utility.
The two vehicles were then driven out of the yard in an unknown direction.
At the time of the incident, the caravan was bearing Queensland registration 556QZN.
The utility is described as having an aluminium bull bar, two round spotlights on the front, a black snorkel with a flat tray and tool boxes attached.
