UPDATED: Monday, June 19, 6am: The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has winched a hiker who was injured while descending from Mount Tibberoowuccum in the Glass House Mountains.
The woman had been climbing the mountain’s summit when, upon walking back down, she slipped and injured her ankle.
The rescue helicopter was called into action after 4pm yesterday to assist local Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics and Queensland Fire and Emergency Service personnel, who were already at the scene.
The RACQ LifeFlight Rescue aeromedical crew carefully assessed the difficult terrain and other factors and decided a winch operation was the safest retrieval method.
The injured hiker was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Sunday, June 18, 1.25pm: A man is dead and another is in custody following an alleged assault in Noosa Heads.
Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch detectives have launched Operation Victor Cord following the suspicious death of the elderly man this morning.
Initial investigations indicate that about 6am, an 87-year-old local man was located unconscious on a path along the beachfront at the northern end of Hastings Street.
He had sustained serious head injuries.
Bystanders assisted the man ahead of the emergency response, however, he died at the scene.
Police took a 27-year-old man into custody without incident about 100 metres away on the beachfront soon after, and a crime scene was declared.
The man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
It is believed the two men are not known to each other.
Detectives appeal for witnesses to come forward and urge local businesses and homeowners near the boardwalk first groyne, with relevant CCTV captured between midnight and 6am, to come forward.
Investigations remain ongoing.

Friday, June 16, 2.20pm: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate two girls reported missing from the Sunshine Coast area.
The 15-year-old and 16-year-old girls, who are known to each other, were last seen on May 12 in Caloundra.
The 15-year-old is described as Caucasian in appearance with brown hair.
The 16-year-old is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 170 centimetres tall, with blonde hair.
The pair are believed to be in the company of an adult who is known to them and may be travelling in a Hyundai Terracan with Queensland registration 604FH2.
While their current whereabouts are unknown, the group is known to frequent both the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast areas.
Police are appealing to the girls, or anyone with information about their whereabouts, to come forward.

Arielle, who is also known as Gloria, was last seen on May 15 leaving a Moffat Beach facility.
She was reported missing to police on June 10.
Concerns are held for the woman’s welfare as she suffers from a medical condition requiring medication.
She is described as Caucasian, approximately 160cm tall, with a slim build, blonde hair and hazel eyes.
It is believed she may have travelled to the Byron Bay/Suffolk Park areas.
Anyone who may know of the woman’s whereabouts is asked to contact police.

Monday, June 12, 9.55am: Sunshine Coast Police are seeking public assistance following a stolen dirt bike incident on May 28.
Initial investigations indicate that about 2.30pm an orange KTM dirt bike bearing Queensland registration 891-ZG was stolen from the rear of a utility parked outside a hospital on Doherty Street in Birtanya.
Police have released CCTV of a man who may be able to assist with investigations.
Police appeal to the man or anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.
Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam vision from the Birtanya area on the afternoon of Sunday, May 28, is also urged to contact police. Anonymous reports can be made.
