Thursday, July 6, 11.20am: Detectives have charged a Sunshine Coast man in relation to an arson at a Brisbane business on June 20.
Police will allege two men smashed a window to gain access to a hair salon on Riding Road, Balmoral, around 3am and lit a fire with an accelerant.
The fire was quickly extinguished by emergency services and the business sustained minor damage.
Yesterday, a 37-year-old Marcus Beach man was charged with one count each of arson and attempts to destroy property by explosives.
He will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
Police had previously charged a 39-year-old Bracken Ridge man with one count each of arson and unlawful dealing with explosives.
He will reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 21.
Thursday, July 6, 8.30am: Police have charged a man after he allegedly drove a stolen car dangerously in roadworks at Caboolture last night.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen from Kalanda Court in Dicky Beach on June 23.
It will be alleged that at 9.35pm a Mazda3 was headed south on the Bruce Highway through roadworks. Workers at the scene contacted police in relation to the manner of driving of the vehicle. Only one lane of the highway was operational due to the roadworks. A marked police vehicle was stopped in a line of traffic and the Mazda was forced to stop further down the line.
An officer from the stopped police car approached the Mazda, directing the driver to pull over to the side. The Mazda accelerated towards the officer, who jumped out of the way, before the Mazda drove through the roadworks and drive off southbound at speed.
The Mazda drove along the Buchannan Road exit at Morayfield before the driver lost control and crashed into a traffic sign.
The driver fled the vehicle and was located hiding in bushland a short time later by a police dog squad unit.
It will be further alleged police searched the vehicle after the crash and located a quantity of drugs.
The 32-year-old Morayfield man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment then charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and disqualified driving, one count each of drug driving, possession of dangerous drug (methylamphetamine) possession of drug utensil (glass pipe) and using cancelled registration plates. He has also been charged with drive unregistered and uninsured vehicle from an earlier matter.
He will appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court today.

The 15-year-old and 16-year-old girls, who are known to each other, were last seen on May 12 in Caloundra.

Monday, July 3, 6.30am: Police are investigating following five separate traffic crashes in Tanawha on the Sunshine Coast last night.
Officers were called to the Bruce Highway near Ilkley Road just before 8pm after a car travelling northbound left the road and collided with a barrier.
The driver, a 37-year-old Graceville man, then exited the vehicle on foot and ran across the highway into southbound traffic.
A car swerved to avoid colliding with the pedestrian and subsequently rolled multiple times.
The pedestrian was struck by another vehicle a short time later.
He received minor injuries and was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
In total, 10 vehicles were involved in five separate traffic crashes, with six people transported to hospital with minor injuries.
Eleven people were assessed by Queensland Ambulance staff at the scene.
Four patients were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital: a man in his 30s with head and chest injuries in a serious but stable condition; a woman in her 20s with chest, abdominal and arm injuries in a stable condition; a woman in her 20s with head and hip injuries in a stable condition; and a woman in her 20s with hip and leg injuries in a stable condition.
A further two patients were transported to Nambour Hospital: a boy with head injuries in a stable condition; and man in his 60s with head injuries in a stable condition.
