We’re keeping things short and sweet this week as we’re away at the AFTA (Australian Fishing Trade Association) Tackle Show on the Gold Coast. But don’t worry, we’ve still got plenty of updates, recommendations and news for you.
Offshore
It’s been a fantastic week offshore. Glen from Deep End Fishing Charters has reported catches of Amberjack, Cobia, Trevally, Tuskfish and Sweetlip. Smithy from Smithy’s Fishing Charters has also had a successful week, with catches of Amberjack and Tuskfish at the Hards. He’s also reported plenty of Snapper and Pearl Perch at the Hards and Snapper off Caloundra and in the shipping channel. However, remember that the Snapper and Pearl Perch season is closed for another two weeks, so keep those lines in check.

Estuaries
In the estuaries, we’ve seen good numbers of Bream, Jewfish and Flathead in the Maroochy River between the Bli Bli boat ramp and Chambers Island. Flathead at Eudlo Creek have been biting well on Pro Lure Clone Prawns. We recommend giving these a try if you’re chasing Flatties. Unfortunately, Trevally have slowed down, with no catches reported this week.

Fish of the month
This month, we’ve started our new Catch of the Month Competition. We’re giving away two $25 gift vouchers to spend in our store each month – one for the photo with the most likes, and one for the best catch as selected by our team. To enter, post a photo of your catch on Facebook or Instagram, use the hashtag #BaitMasterFishingComp, and tag us in your photo. The competition runs from the first to the last day of each month, and winners will be announced at the start of the following month. We can’t wait to see your catches.
We will be back from AFTA at the end of the week, and we’re excited to bring back info on new gear and insights from the show. We look forward to seeing you in store soon.
