Another new park ‘n’ ride facility has opened, as part of early works for Stage 1 of the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade project.
The new Nambour park ‘n’ ride opened earlier this month and includes 50 new car parking spaces and six motorcycle spaces on the eastern side of the Nambour train station.
The opening means some changes to local traffic flow, as vehicles access and exit the new park ‘n’ ride from Mill Street and Civic Way.

Some final minor works will be ongoing to convert a small number of parking spaces into additional accessible spaces, in the existing car park near the subway entrance to the station. It is anticipated these works will be completed by late September 2023.
“The extra 50 new car parking spaces and six motorcycle spaces will provide more even options for commuters in Nambour’s CBD,” Member for Nicklin Rob Skelton said.
“This will further support the establishment of the Special Entertainment Precinct, granted by the Palaszczuk Government, as the town’s night-time economy continues to develop.
“Thank you to all the members of our community for their patience while the works were completed.”
A footpath for pedestrians will be provided from the new facility to Nambour station.
The B2N project is aimed at increasing capacity, improving reliability and reducing travel times for passenger and freight services in the Sunshine Coast.
Early works also include expansion of the park ‘n’ ride facility at Landsborough and realignment of a 1km section of Steve Irwin Way.
The Landsborough park ‘n’ ride also opened earlier this month.
Stage one of the B2N project is set to cost $550.8m, with the Australian Government committing $390 million and the Queensland Government committing $160.8 million.
Stage one main works will duplicate the rail line between Beerburrum and Beerwah, build three new road-over-rail bridges, remove level crossings, and expand the park ‘n’ ride facility at Beerburrum.
