The Crocodile Hunter Lodge by Australia Zoo has introduced a getaway in the wild for families and friends that retains all the creature comforts of a luxury resort.
The new Emu Cabins offer unique accommodation that caters to groups of different sizes while being surrounded by wilderness and wildlife, in addition to the existing one and two-bedroom cabins already on site at the Beerwah attraction.
Inspired by Steve Irwin’s life, legacy and love for wildlife and wild places, the Crocodile Hunter Lodge provides the overnight experience for guests to reconnect with the natural world.
The four new cabins have three bedrooms and each accommodate up to six guests and offer views of native bushland. They include an accessible option.

Each cabin has a spacious wrap-around deck, kitchen, two bathrooms (including an oversized one with a stone bathtub and heated floor) and a private undercover car park.
Australia Zoo’s world-renowned wildlife conservationist Terri Irwin said it was her late husband Steve’s passion to connect people with wildlife and encourage them to love the animals.
“At the lodge, guests can now be surrounded by the incredible natural world during the evening and admire our gorgeous wildlife family at Australia Zoo during the day,” she said.
“The lodge celebrated its first birthday in June 2023, and it is wonderful to be able to continue to provide a phenomenal, one-of-a-kind accommodation for guests who can enjoy the serenity of nature for the entirety of their stay.”
