He may have just left the golf course but a local punter felt as though he’d scored a hole in one when he won a $50,000 Keno prize.

The man and four mates decided to stop into O’Malleys Irish Pub in Mooloolaba pub to put some Keno bets on after their round of golf.

The Mooloolaba man relayed how the momentous win came about when an official from Keno called to confirm the prize.

“I was in such shock, disbelief,” the man said.

“My mates and I had a pretty long day on the golf course, and we thought we would stop into O’Malley’s Irish Pub on the way home.

“The five of us each decided to put on a game of Keno to pass the time and before we all put on our tickets we made an agreement.

“The agreement was that if anyone won a big Keno prize that we should share 25 per cent of the prize amongst each other.

The group had just finished a round of golf before their win.

“I actually made sure everyone stayed around to watch the Keno games and luckily I did because the next thing we knew my ticket had won $50,000.

“We were in so much shock. We didn’t know what to think.

“I’ve only ever won $300 on Keno so this is next level.

“It was a celebratory weekend that’s for sure.”

His winning Keno Classic 9 Spot was in draw 467 on Friday, October 13.

O’Malleys spokesperson Jason Warner said he wished their winner all the very best with their prize.

“We love seeing our customers score a Keno prize. They’ve always got some fun things planned for their windfalls – I’m sure this winner is no different,” he said.

“It’s great to see another win in our venue and we can’t wait to do it again.”
