An exquisite new residence has set a gold standard on a beachfront strip that is starting to get some belated attention.

No.227 Oceanic Drive was sold for $5.05m: the highest sale price recorded for a coastline property along the Kawana stretch from Wurtulla to Buddina.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom, two-car space home, over 600sqm, was snapped up by a couple from the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

All Properties Group – Sunshine Coast principal Craig Arkell said the Bokarina house, just built by Briscoe Homes, was eye-catching.

“It’s a house that grabs you as soon as you step through the door,” he said.

“You go in and go ‘wow’.

“That’s because of the design of the house and the materials used, and the way the light comes in.

“They (designers and builders) have done everything to capture the views, the breezes and the sunlight.

“There are sky gardens too, so you’re surrounded by gardens, even on the top level.

“And it’s got all of top-of-the-line C-bus: everything that an app can control.”

The home includes high-end finishes like stone tiles, travertine benches, burnished concrete, oak timber flooring, terracotta breezeway blocks and exposed brickwork.

The home’s location itself is a huge drawcard. It’s close to services and it backs on to a 9km stretch of sand.

“There are some beautiful trees and natural dunes behind the house, so there is the greenery and then the beach,” Mr Arkell said.

“So, you can walk north or south along the coastal pathway or head straight to the beach.”

Mr Arkell said the area was starting to steal some of the limelight from the likes of Mooloolaba, Caloundra and Noosa shorelines.

“I think this strip of beach has been sort of undervalued for quite a long time,” he said.

“But now it’s coming into its own. People are realising just how special it is.”

The home is yet to be lived in.

The block of land was sold to owners in 1985 for under $35,000.

They built a humble home there and used it as a holiday getaway for decades.

“It was a modest, low-set brick house that didn’t have a letterbox,” Mr Arkell said.

He said one of the owners was an “exceptional” fisherman.

“If he was on the beach, word would get around and everyone else would go down and start fishing too,” he said.

“They (the old owners) were also avid bird watchers and they had a red leather-bound book full of the names of every bird species they had seen there: there were hundreds of them.”

The property was purchased for $2.2m by Mr Briscoe and Brent Ambrosini in 2022.

The old home was demolished and the lavish new home was created by MRA Designs and Briscoe Homes, before it was sold to a couple from near Maleny.

The property is right beside the beach.

“This is the first time a house along there has been built and sold with no one living in it, so it is very unique,” Mr Arkell said.

“There were multiple parties interested in buying it.

“But they (the couple) grabbed it quickly. They knew what they were looking for and they said it was special.

“The place reminded (one of the buyers) of where he grew up in Fiji.

“He said he got the craziest sense of déjà vu when he was looking at the property and the beach, which reminded him of the beach he grew up on in Fiji.

“It made him feel like a kid again.”
