Offering incredible panoramic views, Sunshine Coast Council’s newest venue-for-hire is now open and ready to elevate a diverse range of events.

Altitude Nine is the Sunshine Coast’s newest premium venue that offers panoramic views from the ninth floor of Sunshine Coast City Hall.

Mayor Mark Jamieson on Thursday officially opened the venue to 110 of guests including representatives from the events and tourism sector, community groups, local businesses and the media.

Altitude Nine is now taking bookings for a range of community, business, private and charity functions that accommodate up to 180 people.

It will be managed by council’s community venues team, with income from the venue offsetting costs of council providing the service.

“With a design inspired by the landscape of the Sunshine Coast and our deep connection to the hinterland, this is an exciting and welcome addition to the Maroochydore City Centre and I look forward to seeing our community enjoy this new space,” Sunshine Coast mayor Mark Jamieson said last month.

“The stunning venue continues our commitment to creating and providing places and spaces that build relationships and bring our community together.”

Community Portfolio councillor David Law said Altitude Nine would accommodate a diverse range of events.

“I am pleased to see Altitude Nine opening as there is increasing demand for community spaces and the top level of City Hall will assist in responding to that need,” he said.

“This new venue, which celebrates the Coast’s unique landscape, is set to be an outstanding location to host events that rise with the sun or settle in with the sunset, honouring the stunning natural environment of the Sunshine Coast.”
