Monday, January 1, 5pm: A Severe Weather Warning is in place for people in parts of South-East Queensland, including the Sunshine Coast.
Heavy rainfall which may lead to flash flooding is occurring over parts of the south-east and is expected to persist into Tuesday. The heaviest rainfall during Monday has been associated with shower and thunderstorm activity in the south of the warning area, which has been hit-and-miss in nature. There remains some uncertainty in the movement and timing of features. Heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads. Locations which may be affected include Maroochydore and Noosa Heads.
A Flood Watch is current for the Mary River, Noosa River and Sunshine Coast rivers and creeks, and flood warnings may be issued as required.

Sunday, December 31, 1pm: A male was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition following a motorcycle crash on Peachester Road at Peachester at 10.39.
Sunday, December 31, 9.35am: Wet and potentially stormy weather threatens to put a dampener on New Year’s Eve celebrations.
The BOM expected a very high chance of showers today (95 per cent), most likely from late this morning and the chance of a thunderstorm. There could be between 5mm to 25mm.
Sunshine Coast Council said on Sunday morning that their NYE celebrations were on track.
“The weather is looking okay so the countdown to New Year’s Eve has begun.”
“Everything is going ahead as planned at this stage. We’ll provide another update early this afternoon.”
They were due to provide an update on Sunday afternoon via the event’s Facebook site.
About 1000 homes remained without power on Sunday morning, following severe storms on Saturday. Power has been restored to about 14,000 properties.
Saturday, December 30, 11.55am: Severe storms have struck the region, with heavy rainfall. Sever Thunderstorm Warnings have been issued for parts of the Sunshine Coast and Noosa during the day. Thousands of homes were without power on the Sunshine Coast, most of which were at Aura.
A weak southeasterly change is linking up with a very moist and unstable airmass to trigger scattered severe thunderstorms across the southeast this morning.
Saturday, December 30, 5.15am: Showers and possible storms are expected on the Sunshine Coast during the long weekend, and an Initial Flood Watch has been issued for coastal catchments.
There is a 90 to 95 per chance of rain in the region for each of the next few days, with possible rainfall of up to 40mm on Saturday, up to 20mm on Sunday and up to 30mm on Monday. There’s also the chance of thunderstorms.
An Initial Flood Watch has been issued for coastal catchments, from south of Rockhampton to the NSW border, with isolated minor to moderate riverine flooding possible. Among the that could be affected are the Mary River, Noosa River and Sunshine Coast rivers and creeks.

Friday, December 29, 10.55am: Emergency services attended a call to a house fire on Pacific Ave at Sunshine Beach at 10.12am. No-one required treatment or transport.
Thursday, December 28, 5pm: Almost half a million people hit the beaches of Queensland during the Christmas long weekend. Surf Life Saving Queensland said, via social media, that there was 496,979 visitors. Lifesavers and lifeguards performed 14,236 preventative actions, 116 rescues, and administered 1011 first aid treatments. “Talk about a busy few days,” they said.

Wednesday, December 27, 4.40pm: A stable patient was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital Paramedics after a vehicle and motorcycle crash on the Bruce Highway southbound at Corbould Park at 4.03pm.
Wednesday, December 27, 1.35pm: Police have located a second woman deceased following a search and rescue operation in the Mary River, near Gympie.
The 46-year-old Southside woman was recovered around midday today in the Gympie weir.
Search efforts recommenced this morning and involved Water Police, SES, police dive squad and air assets.
A 40-year-old Gympie woman was located last night around 7pm (scroll down for more).
Police have finalised search and rescue efforts and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Wednesday, December 27, 9.50am: Police are seeking public assistance to help locate 40-year-old Dean Adrian Doherty, who was last seen on the evening of Monday, December 18, near his home on Maud Street Nambour, and has not been seen or heard from since.
Family and police hold concerns for his whereabouts as this behaviour is out of character and he has a medical condition. It is suspected he may be traveling on foot or by train and has been known to visit the Brisbane City and Gold Coast areas. He is described as having a fair complexion, 175cm tall, thin build with brown eyes, messy brown hair and beard (pictured).
Police are appealing to Dean, or anyone with information regarding his whereabouts, to contact them.

Wednesday, December 27, 7.50am: A male in his 50s with a significant head injury was transported in a serious condition to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a fall from an e-scooter on Harbourlights Way at Pelican Waters at 4.22am.
Wednesday, December 27, 5.35am: Storms have claimed the life of a 40-year-old woman, whose body was found in the Mary River in Gympie.
She was one of three swept into the water by the Kidd Bridge.
One woman, a 46-year-old, managed to get to safety. Another 46-year-old woman is missing with the search due to resume this morning.
Severe weather lashed parts of Queensland’s south-east on Christmas and Boxing Day.
At Gympie, a wind gust of 100km/h was recorded on Tuesday while golf ball-sized hail.

Tuesday, December 26, 5.30pm: Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of the Sunshine Coast.
A warning for Noosa, at 5.19pm, said that large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall could occur. A 100km/hr wind gust was recorded at Gympie at 2.34pm, where a storm was heading east.
Meanwhile, a warning at 4.21pm said that severe thunderstorms could affect other parts of the region, including Maroochydore, during the next several hours.

Sunday, December 24, 3pm: Severe thunderstorms in the warning area for parts of the Sunshine Coast have temporarily eased. However, the redevelopment of severe thunderstorms remains possible. The situation is being closely monitored and further detailed warnings will be issued as necessary.

Sunday, December 24, 3pm: The Sunshine Coast-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted two motorbike riders from separate accidents to hospital in less than 24 hours.
Yesterday evening, the rescue helicopter crew flew to a private property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland after two motorbike riders had collided head on. He was airlifted to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
This morning, a male teenager lost control of the motorbike he was riding and smashed into a power pole on the side of the road. The rescue helicopter crew flew to the scene, in the Somerset region, shortly before 11am, where the pilot was able to land in a paddock close to where the incident had occurred. The patient was flown to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Friday, December 22, 2.30pm: One stable patient was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a two-vehicle crash the corner of Dixon Road and Sunshine Motorway at Buderim at 12.07pm.
Friday, December 22, 2pm: Rangers are investigating after a boy was bitten by a dingo on K’gari on December 18.
The 12-year-old was knee-boarding at Eurong when a dingo (wongari) emerged from bushland and circled him. He tried to move the dingo on by yelling and moving his arms, but as he stepped back the dingo lunged and bit him on the left knee. Injuries included scratching and bruising to his knee, and his family did not seek medical assistance.
Rangers are investigating the incident and are attempting to identify the dingo involved.
The parents had previously been briefed by rangers about Be Dingo-safe! and were about 10m away from the boy at the time of the incident.
Visitors and residents on K’gari are reminded to keep children under constant supervision.
Friday, December 22, 5.45am: Storms last night brought heavy rain to parts of the Sunshine Coast, with the most significant totals at Kiels Mountain (83mm) Diddilibah (82mm), Sippy Downs (81mm) and Nambour (80mm). It was the most amount of rain in one day for some locations in more than a year. Major centres also had decent rain, including Maroochydore (55mm) and Caloundra (39mm).

Thursday, December 21, 8pm: A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for parts of the Sunshine Coast at 7.50pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Montville and Palmwoods. This thunderstorm is slow moving. It is forecast to affect Nambour and Mapleton by 8:50 pm.

Evonne Bond was last seen at a property in Tewantin at 11pm and has not been seen or heard from since.

Evonne is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 160cm tall with a slim build, with short grey hair, and blue eyes.

Sunday, December 17, noon: Detectives have released further CCTV footage as part of their appeal to identify a man found deceased in the Maroochy River on November 30.
The vision gives a clearer view of the man’s face, as he enters a Maroochydore business at approximately 5.45pm on November 27.
Police say the latest CCTV is the best indication of what the man looked like.
Anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV footage or has information to assist the identification process is urged to contact police.
Sunday, December 17, 9.40am: A 10-year-old girl is fighting for life after being struck by lightning as more wild weather descended on Queensland causing major flooding in Cairns.
The girl was injured at a private property in Beerwah on the Sunshine Coast at 2.30pm on Saturday during severe thunderstorms due to ex-cyclone Jasper.
She was taken to Sunshine Coast University Hospital and then flown to Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition, Queensland Police confirmed.
