A renowned Australian rock band will be the headline act for the launch of a revamped entertainment venue.
Award winners the Temper Trap will perform during the opening weekend of The Station at Birtinya on Friday, March 1.

The venue is the brainchild of locals Chris and Lauren Hignett, who took over the lease of the site late last year, after popular precinct NightQuarter closed in 2022.
Mr Hignett said he was thrilled to welcome a high-profile Australian band for the opening night of the launch weekend, marking the first stage of the venue.
“We had a hit list of high-profile performers who we wanted for our launch night and the Temper Trap were right up there,” he said.
“They have made their mark on the national and international music scene for nearly 20 years and I think they are a great fit for our venue and the type of people we want to attract to The Station.
“We are also pleased to announce that we have renowned DJ Havana Brown and DJ Brooklyn set to perform on the Saturday night and we round off the weekend with Raw Ordio and Ampersand on the Sunday.
“There’s a strong local flavour to our launch weekend with a number of Sunshine Coast-based performers on stage including the Betty Taylor Band, who will be supporting the Temper Trap on the Friday night, along with Jonny Sonic (the Potbelleez) who will be supporting both DJ Havana Brown and DJ Brooklyn.
“We couldn’t be happier with the diverse range of music on offer for our opening weekend. This is the high quality of performers which our guests can enjoy every time they visit our venue.”
Ms Hignett said The Station team had been working around the clock to ensure they are all set to go for March 1.
“The venue looks fantastic and we’ve spent a lot of time and money to ensure patrons have the best experience by investing in the latest sound and acoustic equipment,” she said.
“Our commitment to supporting local suppliers in the food and beverage sector has also been a priority as we want to be known as the family friendly venue which supports locals and we aim to deliver this across all parts of the venue.
“Stage One of The Station will include a major concert venue, skate park, a scooter and skate store, pop ups, a food truck precinct and a bar area with over 20 beverages all from local suppliers which will all be open for our launch weekend.”
All event tickets can be purchased through The Station.
The Station is adjacent to the newly proposed mass transit system, connecting the area to residents in Maroochydore and south to Caloundra.
The 6400sqm site is fitted out with shipping containers for food, bar sales and retail vendors.
The distinctive fit-out and convenient location makes the site a unique venue for enjoying music, food and beverage, concerts, festivals and functions/corporate events.
