Wednesday, April 17, 6.40pm: A 13-year-old girl who was reported missing from Mountain Creek since April 12 has been located, safe and well.

Police thanked the public for their assistance.

Wednesday, April 17, 12pm: Fire warnings, to avoid smoke, have been issued for several locations around the region.

Smoke is affecting Sunrise Beach and Noosa Heads, from a hazard reduction burn in the Noosa National Park.

Smoke is also affecting Teewah, Lake Cootharaba, Lake Cooloola and Boreen Point, from a hazard reduction burn near Teewah Beach.

Smoke is also affecting Ninderry, Yandina and surrounding areas, from a hazard reduction burn in the Mount Ninderry Environmental Reserve.

The three fires are under control.

Wednesday, April 17, 11.05am: No serious injuries were reported following a vehicle and caravan rollover on the Bruce Highway northbound at Glass House Mountains at 10.15am.

Wednesday, April 17, 9.30am: A stable patient with back pain was transported to Nambour Hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Bunya Road, North Arm, at 8.53am.

Wednesday, April 17, 8.40am: Caloundra police are appealing for anyone with further information around suspicious behaviour, following an alleged trespass incident in the Meridan Plains area.

Around 10.30pm on April 5, police attended a property in the vicinity of Creekwood Drive following reports a male was disturbed by an occupant within the yard of a dwelling.

Upon arrival, police took a 28-year-old man into custody.

The man has been charged with one count of trespass and is expected to appear at Caloundra Magistrates Court on May 2.

Police are currently undertaking further enquiries into reported and unreported similar incidents in the area, and appeal to anyone who has any relevant information to come forward.

Tuesday, April 16, 4.40pm: A stable patient was transported to Gympie Hospital after a vehicle and motorcycle crash on Black Mountain Range Road at Black Mountain at 3.54pm.

Tuesday, April 16, 4.20pm: A five-hectare section of Mount Ninderry Environment Reserve will undergo a planned burn tomorrow, weather permitting, between 9.30am and 6pm as part of Sunshine Coast Council’s Bushfire Management Program.

To reduce the impact on animals, a corridor will be maintained for wildlife.

The aim of the burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to maintain fire adapted ecosystems.

The summit trail will remain open, however the trails to the west of the reserve will be closed during burn operations.

Tuesday, April 16, 2.50pm: A stable patient was transported to Nambour Hospital after a single-vehicle crash on David Low Way at Mount at 1.47pm.

Tuesday, April 16, 2.30pm: Two stable patients were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Steve Irwin Way and Male Road at Elimbah at 12.50pm.

Tuesday, April 16, 12.05pm: Three stable patients were transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Old Gympie Road at Beerwah at 10.20am.

Tuesday, April 16, 9am: The Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct planned burn operations within Noosa National Park starting today, as part of the annual hazard reduction and conservation management program for parks and forests.

As a result, smoke may be seen in Sunshine Beach, Noosa and Noosaville areas. People with respiratory or other health problems should seek medical advice on mitigating the effects of smoke inhalation and should close windows and doors and keep medications close by.

The aim of the burn is to reduce the threat of severe wildfires in periods of very high fire danger and help protect life, property and maintain a healthy forest environment.

A burn is also planned for the Cooloola Recreation Area, starting today, with smoke to potentially be seen in the Teewah Village, Teewah Beach Camping Area, Upper Noosa River and Como areas.

Tuesday, April 16, 5.30am: Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a 39-year-old man missing from the Sunshine Coast since last month.

Matthew Urquhart (pictured) was last seen on Hope Court in Meridan Plains around lunchtime on March 16.

Investigators have released a CCTV still of Matthew a bank on Point Cartwright Drive in Kawana Waters around noon that day.

Matthew has not been seen or heard from since.

Police and family hold concerns for his welfare as he has a medical condition.

Matthew is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 180cm tall with a thin build, dark brown hair and brown eyes.

Police are appealing to Matthew, or anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward.

Monday, April 15, 3.35pm: The Sunshine-Coast based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has airlifted a man from K’gari after he suffered a medical episode while boating.

It is believed the man, aged in his 40s, was in a 4m dinghy with another person who called triple zero.

The rescue crew was tasked to the scene at around 11am. The pilot was able to land the helicopter on a clearing near the beach.

The man had made it safely to shore in the dinghy and was treated by paramedics, before being airlifted to Hervey Bay Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

Monday, April 15, 2.05pm: A patient was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious condition after a vehicle and motorcycle crash on Focal Avenue at Coolum Beach at 12.38pm.

Monday, April 15, 11.45am: Sunshine Coast surf lifesavers and lifeguards performed 21 rescues over the the weekend as the state’s Easter school holidays came to a close.

More than 98,000 visits were made to Sunshine Coast beaches over the weekend, with 1178 preventative actions required and 54 first aid treatments applied.

“Compared to the previous weekend, beach visitations were up but rescues were down, which means that beachgoers were on the whole doing the right thing and largely swimming between the flags,” Surf Life Saving Queensland general manager lifesaving and education Peta Lawlor said.
