Detectives have charged a 23-year-old Marcoola man following an alleged wounding incident at Edge Hill in Cairns on March 28.
The arrest follows an alleged altercation where two vehicles crashed, and one person discharged a firearm at another person before leaving the scene.
It will be alleged those involved were known to each other.
Following extensive investigations, detectives from the Cairns and Brisbane Criminal Investigation Branches, including officers from the Organised Crime Gangs Group, executed a search warrant at an address in Lawnton, in Brisbane’s north, on April 8, where police seized firearms, ammunition, dangerous drugs, cash and mobile phones.
The 23-year-old was taken into custody at the address and charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of firearms, possession of dangerous drug (methylamphetamine) – exceed schedule, possession of dangerous drug (MDMA) – exceed schedule, possession of dangerous drug (cocaine) – exceed schedule, possession of dangerous drug (anabolic steroid), possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence (cash), and contravening order.
He was remanded in custody and is due to reappear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 3.
On April 4, detectives from Cairns Criminal Investigation Branch charged a 43-year-old Edge Hill man with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
He was issued with a Notice to Appear at Cairns Magistrates Court on May 2.
