A retired Sunshine Coast couple are planning to buy a new boat and spend plenty of time fishing after hooking $3.75 million in the weekend’s lotto draw.

The Sunshine Beach duo held one of eight Division 1-winning entries in Gold Lotto draw 4481, drawn on Saturday.

“Magic!” the winning husband said when an official from The Lott called to confirm the win.

“Thank you very much. It’s pretty unbelievable.

“I checked the other night and at first I thought I had won $3760, then I read it again and it hit me.

“I went and showed my wife and said, ‘Can you have a look? Am I reading this right?’.

“I sure was. I even got her to look up the results on her phone to double check.”

The winning marked System 9 entry was purchased on The Lott website.

The winning numbers were 30, 24, 44, 21, 45 and 10, with the supplementary numbers 31 and 28.

There were eight Division 1 winners across Australia in Saturday’s draw – four in Queensland, two in Tasmania and one each in New South Wales and South Australia.

The husband said the win would change their plans for retirement.

“We stayed up all night, talking and talking. It’s very surreal still,” he said.

“I ended up staying awake until 2.30am and my wife stayed up until 4am.

“We’ve recently retired, so it’ll certainly change our plans up quite a bit.

“I think we’ll be doing a lot of fishing, camping and kicking back.

“I wouldn’t mind getting a boat.”
