The Maroochydore city centre will soon be home to about 300 more residents, after the opening of a two-tower development.
The Corso Residential Apartments, by Habitat Development Group, includes 158 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.
It is the second residential project in the city centre, with Habitat also building the first offering, Market Lane Residences.
Habitat founder and managing director Cleighton Clark said the group was proud to contribute to the city centre.
“We’ve been developing on the Sunshine Coast for 20 years and are very optimistic about the region’s future,” he said.
“The Sunshine Coast’s gross domestic product is surprisingly robust, surpassing Canberra and Darwin, and matching Adelaide, which for a regional economy is very impressive.
“As the Sunshine Coast continues to grow, Maroochydore city centre represents an exciting opportunity for the region, delivering a world-class CBD that’s masterplanned from the ground up.
“Habitat Development Group is proud to have worked with Sunshine Coast Council and SunCentral to bring The Corso to fruition.”
Sunshine Coast mayor Rosanna Natoli said The Corso represented architectural excellence and demonstrated commitment to innovation and sustainability.
“This development goes beyond bricks and mortar, it stands as a symbol of progress and prosperity for our city centre and our community at a time when housing supply is so desperately needed,” she said.
“The Corso is poised to enliven growth in Maroochydore, inspiring us to shape a vibrant, inclusive and sustainable city centre for generations to come.”

A media release stated that The Corso Residential Apartments, spread across 15 levels, offered a blend of quality and innovation.
The development features 100sqm of commercial and retail space, a large communal area on the fourth floor with lounge and dining facilities, and a large pool with amenities.
Amanda Yeates, the CEO of SunCentral, which was established to oversee the delivery of the CBD, said housing supply was struggling to keep pace with demand so the opening of 158 new apartments was a welcome addition.
“The opening of The Corso will double the number of residents in Maroochydore city centre from 300 to about 600, activating the vicinity and bringing housing and vibrant energy to the area,” she said.
“We are excited to see the positive impact The Corso will have on the Maroochydore city centre.”
Habitat Development Group also officially unveiled a towering piece of new art on the side of The Corso building.
The 14m x 10m artwork Walking Together, by Dr Jandamarra Cadd, a Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Wurrung, Boonwurrung, Wurundjeri and Palawa descendent, represents a visual narrative about connection to place and custodial responsibility to look after the environment, animals, community, our waterways, the land, and the sky.
“No matter who we are or where we are from, what we look like or the way we express our lives, we are connected through this place and all its elements,” he said.
“This is interwoven into the fabric of our individual and collective identity.”
