A prominent local real estate agent has celebrated his wedding with what else but using a yellow auctioneer’s gavel to smash a cannoli wedding cake.

At the exquisite chapel at the Prideaux Estate at Ilkley, 135 guests gathered as the heavens opened in what was quite possibly the rainiest day of the year.

Groom Cameron Hackenberg nervously awaited his bride Saraya Dunstan, an interior stylist, at the altar with his groomsmen, two brothers and best friend as support.

The couple’s 17-month-old daughter Marlee toddled down the aisle in awe towards her daddy, much to everyone’s delight, followed by the bride’s brother Ryan and three beautiful bridesmaids wearing butter-yellow satin gowns and carrying vibrant bouquets like a burst of sunshine.

The bride appeared at the chapel doors on the arm of her father, wearing her custom-designed A-line, off-the-shoulder gown with embellished bodice, her “dream-come-true gown” by Sunshine Coast designer Marilyn Crystelle.

Little Marlee stole the show: as the chapel lay silent, she said a loud “yes” just before her father said his “I do”, causing a peel of laughter. Then, without prompting, she joined them for the kiss.

The ceremony was finished with a champagne tower for a celebratory toast.

There were a few unusual additions to their reception celebrations at Pier 33 in Mooloolaba, including a surprise meat raffle, hilarious maid of honour’s speech and the untraditional cannoli cake smash.

Having their families and friends with them and partying and dancing all night was their plan, and what a wonderful party it was.

Saraya and Cameron described their day as memorable, amazing, emotional and life-changing, and both agree their favourite moment was seeing each other for the first time on the aisle.
