Works to improve the road network around a fast-growing part of the Sunshine Coast are set to commence this month.

The upgrades around the Aura Business Park at Baringa will include two connections to Corbould Park, creating new access routes to the Aura development.

The works also include the duplication of a section of Aura Boulevard and Graf Drive to four lanes, plus intersection upgrades.

Graf Drive will be extended to connect with Racecourse Road in the Sunshine Coast Industrial Park at Corbould Park. This link is expected to open late next year.

A northern access point to the Aura Business Park from Corbould Park will also be created via Edison Crescent to Potter Road. This is expected to be completed early next year.

Dedicated bus lanes will also be introduced to support the area’s growth.

Stockland, the developer of the Aura master-planned community, has appointed Sunshine Coast-based contractor Shadforth Contracting to oversee the project.

Works will be carried out in stages, with the majority expected to be completed by late 2025, depending on weather conditions and progress.

Stockland Aura project director Josh Sondergeld said the works were essential to deliver infrastructure to meet the needs of the community.

“These works will help to reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow around the Aura Business Park, ultimately enhancing road access for local businesses, workers and residents,” Mr Sondergeld said.

A Stockland media release said the Aura Business Park was a significant economic and employment hub in the region, and the new road infrastructure was being delivered under a Local Government Infrastructure Agreement alongside Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland Government.

Traffic management will be implemented during the works, with Stockland saying disruptions to traffic flow would be minimised wherever possible. Some construction activities will be scheduled at night.

Aura Boulevard and Graf Drive will remain open to traffic throughout the works. Packer Road will remain unaffected during this phase, while Farmers Crescent will be addressed in the final phase.

Residents are being encouraged to take this alternative route to avoid roadworks around the Aura Business Park.

Commuters are encouraged to use alternate routes to Nirimba and Banya via Central Avenue and Bells Creek Arterial Road to avoid areas affected by construction.
