The LNP has vowed to spend $4 million to help rejuvenate a Sunshine Coast town centre.
The Opposition stated that it would work with Sunshine Coast Council to deliver upgraded streetscapes and a unique community space in the heart of Caloundra, as part of a Create Caloundra project.
LNP candidate for Caloundra Kendall Morton said the investment would benefit locals and visitors, and would bolster local business.
“Our streetscapes linking Bulcock Beach with key business and community hubs, including The Events Centre and the new library, will get a big boost,” she said.
Caloundra Chamber of Commerce president Mike Shadforth welcomed the announcement and said it would help restore business confidence in the town.
“Businesses in our CBD have been crying out for investment to revitalise our main street and this investment will be warmly supported and welcomed by local businesses,” he said.
The Member for Caloundra, Labor’s Jason Hunt, was contacted for comment.
The Caloundra Community and Creative Hub is part of the Caloundra Central Activation Project, which is one of council’s major regional projects.
