A stunning beachside house and pool have been recognised with major building awards.
Hamptons Homes Australia’s ‘Sunshine Beach’ property at Sunshine Beach was acknowledged as the state’s best individual home over $10 million, and best residential swimming pool, at the Queensland Housing and Construction Awards at The Star Brisbane.
A host of other Sunshine Coast properties and builders were also recognised with accolades.
Among them was custom-home builder Joseph Thomsen, who earned the Procore Rising Star Award for a commitment to excellence and quality workmanship, and Hutchinson Builders, for the impressive Matso’s Sunshine Coast Brewery.
Judges were full of praise for ‘Sunshine Beach’.
“Everything about this house is on a grand scale,” they said.
“Very impressive house and a challenge for the construction team.
“Beautiful home, well designed and built.
“It has everything. Extremely well-built and stunning.
“This is a very impressive pool. More resort than house.”
The pool is flanked by plenty of shaded loungers that provide impressive views of the ocean.
There is a covered pool pavilion with an outdoor kitchen, dining and lounge, along with a with a fireplace.
Inside, the home includes six bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and views. Solid oak flooring runs through the living areas and there are natural marble tiles and teak furniture.
The residence also includes a curved staircase, a terrace and balcony.
Meanwhile, the Sunshine Coast Ecological Park Master Plan, by Hassell, was honored with a major gong at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects National Awards in Melbourne. The park was recognised with a Landscape Architecture Award in the Landscape Planning category.
The project overview stated that the park, to be located at Maleny, would be “a refuge for wildlife and the community”.
“The Sunshine Coast Ecological Park is set to transform 65 hectares of farmland into a place of ecological wonder for generations to discover and enjoy,” it said.
“The design establishes a framework for a new parkland that will deliver nature-based recreation, education and research, while ‘healing Country’ by restoring its environmental and cultural heritage values.”
