Sunshine Coast residents can now take a virtual tour of a planned three-level community space.

A fly-through video, released by Sunshine Coast Council, shows how Caloundra’s new Library+ will look.

It showcases key locations including the exterior, foyer and stairs, junior library and creative spaces.

Councillor Terry Landsberg said the state-of-the-art facility would soon become a central hub for locals and the wider Sunshine Coast community.

“The new Library+ will be a beacon of modern design and functionality, spread over three levels,” he said.

“The ground floor will feature an open foyer and event space with tiered seating, kids’ space, an outdoor activity deck, a young adult area, a quiet lounge, a creative space and reading lounge, a kiosk and a customer service centre.

How the new district library and community space could look, as viewed from Omrah Avenue.

“Level 1 will house a spacious foyer and exhibition space, the main library collections, a makerspace to develop creative projects, digital studios, and meeting rooms.

“On Level 2, visitors will find another open foyer and large flexible community meeting areas and Council administration offices.”

Cr Landsberg invited the community to visit the current Caloundra Library at 8 Omrah Avenue between November 18 and December 1 to take a 3D tour of the project.

“This interactive experience will allow our community to explore and discover what the repurposed Caloundra Administration Building will look like once the transformation is completed in mid-2025,” he said.

Further details on how the community can access these fantastic spaces and this exciting new community facility will be available in early 2025.
