A popular cafe known for its French bread and pastries has closed its doors suddenly, triggering a heartfelt statement from its owners.
Often described as bringing a slice of the French Quarter to the Sunshine Coast, the long-standing cafe is much-loved among patrons.
Andrew and Jade Ackerman took over the reins of La Maison du Patissier at Merdian Plains in April.
In a statement to social media on December 2, La Maison du Patissier announced its shock closure after it entered liquidation.
“Unfortunately we have to let you know some bad news, we have had to shut the shop effective immediately,” the statement read.
“We have been put in a very difficult situation which we are unable to disclose any information about, but has ultimately forced us into liquidation.
“We would like to thank everyone who has supported the business through the years and apologise to those we have let down.
“We didn’t want it to be this way but can’t fix the damage that has been done.”
Listed as AJCM Group Pty Ltd, a notice of appointment as liquidator was published on the ASIC website on December 3.
It confirmed that the company had been put into liquidation following a general meeting on December 2.

“It was resolved that the company be wound up and that Clifford John Sanderson be appointed liquidator,” the notice read.
The Ackermans took over the cafe after the original owners, Eric and Francoise Pernoud, stepped down to spend more time with family.
