A motorcycle rider has died in a crash on the Sunshine Coast early this morning.

Emergency services were called to Albany Street near Claymore Road at Sippy Downs about 12.10am following reports of a Kawasaki Ninja 1000 motorbike colliding with a Kia Sportage towing a boat.

The rider of the motorbike, a 23-year-old Palmview man, was initially treated for serious injuries but was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Kia, a 54-year-old Sippy Downs man, was not physically injured.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the incident and is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
