A 20-year-old man has died in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a crash on Thursday.

A silver Mitsubishi Triton was travelling north on the Sunshine Motorway at Peregian Springs about 5.20pm, when it left the road after passing through the roundabout with Murdering Creek Road and crashed into a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old Sippy Downs man, was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital, where he has since died as result of his injuries.

A 56-year-old Cooroibah man, a passenger of the vehicle, was not physically injured.

The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit is appealing to any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward. Quote this reference number: QP2500051706.
